Welcome from the Presidents

The Baker Institute Student Forum (BISF) was created in 2002 in order to provide a link between the student body and the Baker Institute for Public Policy. Through a variety of events, the student forum provides opportunities for Rice students to gain exposure to and explore current policy issues, with the goal of encouraging all to contribute their voice to our nation's discourse. Our programming spans from informal student debates about policy to intimate lectures with renowned Baker Institute fellows, from an online platform for students to propose and comment on policy to an annual undergraduate policy competition. Our members share a curiosity about vexing policy challenges, articulate diverse perspectives, and are willing to test new ideas in exciting, welcoming forums. We look forward to seeing you at our next event, working with you on campus-wide policy initiatives, or reading your latest article on our blog.

Warmly,
Julia Wang and Catherine Kirby
Co-Presidents, Baker Institute Student Forum

Get Involved

Every student at Rice is a member of the Baker Institute Student Forum. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook or sign up for our email listserv to find out more about upcoming events and opportunities.

It takes a lot of work to make these opportunities available for the campus. We are always looking for policy-minded students to help program events, develop research and reach out to the community. Join one of our committees and make the most of your Rice experience.
